Professional Experience
Skip has served as a confidential consultant to CEOs and other senior level executives in government, business, health care, private institutions, foundations and not-for-profit organizations. His consulting services have successfully led both small and large organizations through major transitions. He has successfully diagnosed and defined critical challenges for many different types of organizations, and has conceptualized appropriate and effective strategies corresponding to them.
Skip has significant expertise consulting in the following areas:
- Strategic Planning. Skip has led clients in government, health care, not-for-profit and business through planning and decision-making processes for the purpose of establishing or clarifying a strategic organizational direction for the future. He has designed and instituted planning processes to fit the unique needs, dynamics and structure of each individual client. He has successfully led extensive group processes to expand the input available, broaden perspectives and to assure there is extensive support for, and ownership of, the strategic decisions and actions ultimately initiated.
- Decision Process Facilitation. Skip has helped both individual leaders and leadership teams within organizations reach crucial decisions that have enterprise-wide consequences. He has extensive experience designing and facilitating group decision-making processes in technical, managerial, and program or product specific situations.
- Implementation and Project Management Assistance. Skip has helped clients implement actions, projects or initiatives that let them accomplish their organizational goals. He has managed significant change-oriented projects, defined successful implementation strategies, developed achievable implementation plans and monitored implementation progress and accomplishments on behalf of organizational leaders.
- Management Audits and Organizational Effectiveness Assessments. Skip has extensive experience performing and directing management audits designed to assess management strengths and weaknesses in client organizations. He has evaluated the overall effectiveness of diverse types of client organizations to suggest effective ways to improve performance, success or profitability.
- Operational Analysis. Skip has structured and led complex analytical efforts designed to improve client operations by pinpointing the root cause of operating problems and issues. He has conducted complicated analytical assessments, examined complex and multi-faceted processes and operating systems and recommended solutions to cut costs, improve effectiveness or enhance outcomes and results.
- Performance Management. Skip has helped clients structure and implement systems to improve their performance and results. He has helped clients define enterprise-wide performance measures, develop and institute appropriate measures for individual organizational units or employees, and establish performance standards, benchmarks and best practices that lead to continuous improvement.

Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Southern Illinois University - Carbondale and Master of Arts degree in Administration from the University of Illinois in Springfield, Illinois
