Sample Project Summaries
- Specialty Physician Group. KEB was the strategic planning consultant for a large group of specialty physicians who developed a strategic plan to help position them to be successful in a rapidly changing managed care environment. Working with the group’s five-member executive committee, this process developed a strategy for establishing horizontal and vertical alliances, identified changes needed in internal structure (including changes in the ownership structure) and defined key physician referral and satisfaction issues for the group’s practice.
- State Regulatory Agency. KEB was the strategic planning consultant for a state insurance regulator to develop a comprehensive strategic plan in the wake of changes in insurance regulation brought about by the Graham - Leach - Bliley Act. This plan identified strategic changes necessary in regulatory philosophy and practice, and set targets for reengineering regulatory functions, processes and procedures to comport with these changes.
- State Transportation Agency. KEB partnered with a national consulting firm to provide guidance and support to a large state transportation agency developing its first comprehensive strategic plan. The planning process was based on the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) approach to strategic planning and performance measurement. KEB worked with agency managers to develop department-wide and division-specific scorecards that included goals, objectives and performance measures for each of several “perspectives” prescribed in the BSC. These perspectives were customized to the agency, to assure that the plan provided the proper balance among internal and external priorities and customers. As part of this process, KEB facilitated the efforts of key agency managers to develop a survey to be administered twice a year, to gauge motorists’ satisfaction with the services of the agency.
- Religious Institutes. KEB provides specialized strategic planning consulting services to religious institutes. We understand that decisions to initiate strategic planning may be based on mission, finances or concern about the institute’s future viability. KEB works with leadership teams to proactively plan and guide the institutes into the future.
