Congregation of Women Religious with a Major Presence in 5 States. KEB consulted with an order of women religious to evaluate the institute’s property stewardship of its assets in six states. Working closely with a designated committee, we developed and facilitated a two-year process that started with a thorough study of all properties and ended with sound recommendations to Leadership regarding promising possibilities for alternative uses for each property identified as a priority. This evaluation process was driven by consensus-based decision-making and effective membership engagement. Recommendations were made only after determinations that they were doable and if a mission and business case supported them. This required extensive conversations with outside entities identified through the process as potential partners. The recommendations involved making major changes in property use, resulting in exciting new possibilities for mission.
