At KEB, our team is strengthened by individuals who bring not only technical expertise, but also a strong commitment to the communities we serve. This month, we’re proud to highlight R’Lee Jones!

In her role, R’Lee provides technical assistance to state and local agencies and nonprofits, helping ensure compliance with federal workforce laws. She also facilitates a state-level taskforce made up of 16 partners across the Illinois workforce system, supporting collaboration and alignment among organizations working to strengthen communities across the state. Her work reflects both a high level of technical knowledge and a deep understanding of the broader impact these programs have.

R’Lee’s educational path reflects her dedication to public service and leadership. She earned undergraduate degrees in Public Administration and Business Administration from Greenville University and the University of Illinois at Springfield. In 2025, she completed her Master’s in Public Administration with a certificate in Nonprofit Management. In recognition of her leadership and commitment to service, she was awarded the Dynamic Young Adult Award in 2024 by the Faith Coalition for the Common Good.

One of R’Lee’s most meaningful accomplishments is her long-standing involvement with the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School in Springfield. Having first participated in the program as a child, she later returned in multiple leadership roles, including Jr. Servant Leader, Servant Leader Intern, and most recently, Program Director in 2024.

Fun Facts
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of the research I presented on a 6-week literacy program here in Springfield, to the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom School. I attended the program as a child and later served in several roles. My research focused on the effects of funding cuts on literacy-based afterschool and summer programs. I’m very proud of the program and the legacy it holds.

What is the most impressive thing you know how to do?
I train obedience and protection with my 85lb dog, Trooper!
